Eurobond help re-launch the Corus Colorcoat Prisma® range

As the UK’s leading manufacturer of stone wool composite panel systems, Eurobond are pleased to announce the incorporation of Corus’ new and improved Colorcoat Prisma® range into its catalogue of product features. This new range of solid, matt and metallic coloured pre-finished steel will offer uncompromising high quality as well as the flexibility to meet the needs of modern building design.

The choice of pre-finished steel product is fundamental to both the appearance and the long term performance of the building envelope, as such; architects and designers require a range of versatile options when making these decisions as well as the peace of mind that their choice carries a long term guarantee which is backed up by recognised certification.

With the re-launch of the Colorcoat Prisma® range the Confidex® Guarantee has been increased to 30 years for metallic and solid colours and 25 years for matt colours, (the longest on the market), with no maintenance or inspections required to maintain their validity.

To celebrate, Corus hosted a balloon launch at Eurobond’s sister company Euroclad in Wentloog Corporate Park, Cardiff, one of 12 specially selected locations across the UK and Europe, to signify the long term relationship shared between Eurobond, Euroclad and Corus.

Simon Thomas, Managing Director at Eurobond said “Eurobond and Corus have enjoyed a strong relationship for almost 30 years now and we are delighted with their re-launch of the excellent Colorcoat Prisma® range. This improved range will allow Eurobond to meet the ever changing demands of modern building design whilst maintaining the highest levels of performance and quality associated with Corus’ and Eurobonds’ products. Eurobond Laminates are proud to supply the highest quality building solutions available and by incorporating this exciting new range the solutions have never been so inspiring”.

Top Gear’s ‘Hamster’ tests the fire performance of mineral wool

This week on BBC 2 Richard Hammond’s series entitled Engineering Connections looked at the world famous Guggenheim Museum of modern and contemporary art in Bilbao designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. In the program the ‘Hamster’ as he is know by his colleagues on Top Gear visits the building described as the 'greatest of our time' to find out which engineering connections made it possible. These included eggs [lightweight shell structures] and volcanoes [mineral wool to protect the steel structure in a fire].

To find out how mineral wool protects a building he conducted his own fire test using Rockwool insulation fixed to a metal sheet. You can see this near the end of the programme. It is available on BBC I-player http://bbc.co.uk/i/snkxs/?t=41m15s

He was convinced and could see why the designers of the Guggenheim chose mineral wool to protect the structure from fire.

If Rockwool is relied upon to protect the iconic Guggenheim building – Eurobond panels with a Rockwool core should be first choice and will guarantee top of the range fire performance.

The complete programme is available on BBC Iplayer - http://bbc.co.uk/i/snkxs/. Broadcast on: BBC HD, 7:10pm Sunday 30th May 2010 / Duration: 50 minutes - Available until: 8:59pm Sunday 20th June 2010
